When finding ways to nourish myself, I find I have much more to give. At the beginning of the year, I was given the opportunity to create a self care plan—to be ingrained by daily practice for 40 days.
I wanted to maintain a sustainable spiritual practice that includes yoga and all that yoga offers (spiritually, bodily, emotionally and energetically). I have a long and growing list of tools to pull from each day:
• asanas (physical yoga postures and movements) • meditation • journaling • 3 second spaces (pause) • spiritual reading (and study) • eating nourishing and lean • pranayama (and other breath work) • gratitude rampages • chanting • visualizing • observing (awareness training) • emotional regulation and shifting • word choosing (rephrasing) • listening to inspirational talks (Joe Dispenza, Michael Beckwith, Abraham Hicks, Gregg Braden, Lisa Nichols, Bruce Lipton, Eckhart Tolle, etc…) • watching inspirational films • more…
At first, I thought I was building a list of things to be included in each and every day. Then it dawned on me—I don’t have to do it all at once.
On any giving day, I have an amazing set of tools to pull from. On any given day, I can pull out of my toolbox just what is needed for the moment. I can choose 3 things from the list to commit to each day, and then use the rest on an as needed (or as wanted) basis.
And because I am allowing myself the flexibility to do all of the things listed above as the desire arises, I have a sustainable practice that will continue to enrich my life and help me to grow for decades to come.
